About Me & Research
Short Bio:
After earning my Master’s degree in Biodiversity and Environmental Education from the University of Education Karlsruhe,
I began my PhD in the Symbiont Evolution group. My research centers on Diptera, and I am currently working with Drosophila to
explore questions in symbiont evolution.
Research Interests:
- Spiroplasma in Drosophila
- Other symbionts in Drosophila
- Biodiversity of Syrphidae
Current Projects:
My PhD research contributes to the project “To kill or not to kill: Evolution of facultative male-killing Spiroplasma in
Neotropical Drosophila,” where I focus on characterizing and understanding a low-titre Spiroplasma strain.
Fun Fact: Outside the office and lab, I am often out in the field hoping to discover a new insect
species. I have yet to succeed, but the search continues.
