About Me & Research
Short Bio:
A central focus of my work is the study of the evolution and ecology of bacterial symbionts of arthropods, especially insects. I use
next-generation “omics” approaches (genomics, metagenomics and transcriptomics), including nanopore sequencing
technologies, to characterise symbiont community composition and function, and to understand how symbiont diversity is linked to
functional traits that benefit the host. I am also particularly interested in developing and applying nanopore sequencing
methodologies for arthropod metabarcoding, microbiome analysis, and environmental DNA (eDNA) studies.
Research Interests:
- Microbial genomics and metagenomics (symbiomics)
- Evolutionary and ecological dynamics of microbial symbionts
- Host–microbe interactions
- Arthropod metabarcoding and microbiome profiling
