Research Interests

I am interested in host-parasite interactions and how they are shaped by life histories of the host and the parasite, the environment in which these interactions take place, but also what is the contribution of for example nutrition and immune defence to these interactions. For my studies I utilise experimental manipulations in laboratory and field settings, as well as immunological, microbiological and molecular methods to span my research from molecules through to the whole organism. Currently, I am working on two main research topics focused on the use of antimicrobial secretions as external immune defence (collaboration with Dr. Oliver Otti and Dr. Heike Feldhaar, University of Bayreuth) and on host-parasite interactions involving the ectoparasitic fungi Laboulbeniales on invasive species.
